Have your child(ren) stay with us right after school until 8:30pm. The Ice Elements Parents and Coaches will run the show. Parents welcome to attend as well. For only $10 your child will get to watch two movies, a slice of pizza, a bottle of water and 4 tickets towards the bake sale (1 ticket is valued at $0.50). Additional tickets can be purchased. You must register and pay prior to Dec. 5th to guarantee a spot.<br></p><p> </p><p> </p>

As an Ernest Cumberland family we are going to share our Christmas Cheer with a Holiday Challenge.</p><p style="text-align:justify;"><br>We are challenging each class to bring in 100 of a specified item. In addition, we are challenging each class to bring in 100 boxes of Kraft Dinner. The class who brings in the most items will earn a pizza party. Our goal is to bring in 3000 items! The last day for donations will be Tuesday, December 12th. Thank you for your support, and thank you to Mrs. Wright and her Elves for all their hard work!<br> </p>

Information for Senior Kindergarten Families Regarding French Immersion Programhttp://ern.scdsb.on.ca/about-us/news/school-news/78Information for Senior Kindergarten Families Regarding French Immersion Program<p>The Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) offers French Immersion (FI) at select schools throughout the county. Intake into FI begins in Grade 1. This optional program is designed to develop students' ability to communicate in French with a high level of proficiency, enabling them to function with ease in both English and French.  </p><p>Students from our school who enroll in FI will attend Ernest Cumberland E.S. for Grades 1-4 and Alliston Union P.S. for Grades 5-8.</p><p>An information session about the FI program for parents of students in Senior Kindergarten will take place at<strong> Ernest Cumberland E.S., 160 8</strong><strong><sup>th</sup></strong><strong> Avenue in Alliston, on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at 6:00 pm in the gymnasium. </strong></p><p>At this information session, you will learn more about:</p><ul style="list-style-type:disc;"><li>the program content and instruction</li><li>the application process</li><li>transportation for students <br></li></ul><p>Parents will also have an opportunity to ask questions about the program.<br>If you are unable to attend the information session, you're welcome to attend another session held at a different school. Please note: information specific for Ernest Cumberland and Alliston Union may not be available at a different session. The dates and times for all FI Parent Nights is available at <a href="http://www.scdsb.on.ca/">www.scdsb.on.ca</a> under Programs, French as a Second Language.</p><p><strong>Application dates in January</strong><br><strong> </strong>To apply for FI, you must complete the online application form at <a href="http://www.scdsb.on.ca/">www.scdsb.on.ca</a> under Programs, French as a Second Language. If you do not have Internet access at home, please contact me for assistance re: accessing the online application.</p><p>The FI application form will be available from <strong>9 a.m. on Monday, January 22, 2018</strong> until <strong>9 p.m. on Wednesday, January 24, 2018</strong>.  In Grade 1, enrollment in the FI Program is limited to two classes of 20 students per class at each h­­ost site for the FI program. Rainbows is a teacher-facilitated small group club for students who are grieving a death or divorce in their family. Teachers are trained to facilitate the groups and volunteer their time to work through the Rainbows program in twelve weekly meetings. Meetings take place during the school day. If you would like your child to participate in the Rainbows Program, or would like more information about the Program, please contact your child’s teacher by December 15th. The choice to self-identify is up to you and does not require proof of documentation (i.e. no status card), regardless of where you live. Self-identification is confidential, securely stored and used only to support First Nation, Métis and Inuit student success.<strong> </strong>Self-identification helps schools support the needs of First Nation, Métis and Inuit students and their achievement. Student achievement data is collected and protected with other confidential data used to help improve student achievement.</p><p>To self-identify your child as First Nation, Métis or Inuit, check off the First Nation, Métis or Inuit box on the school registration form and write in details if applicable. The SCDSB is committed to meeting the learning needs of First Nation, Métis and Inuit students through responsive programming and services. Past activities have included: the inclusion of First Nation, Métis and Inuit focused resources in schools; school based pow wows; dedicated First Nation, Métis and Inuit student advisors and cultural awareness training for school staff. Parents and guardians can set up daily, weekly or monthly email alerts for attendance information.</span></p><p style="margin:0in 0in 7.5pt;background:white none repeat scroll 0% 0%;"><span style="font-size:11pt;font-family:"arial",sans-serif;color:#595959;">To access the Parent Portal, parents/guardians will need their child's Pupil ID Number, which can be found on the Student Information Verification Form sent home at the start of every school year, as well as an Access ID.</span></p><p style="margin:0in 0in 7.5pt;background:white none repeat scroll 0% 0%;"><span style="font-size:11pt;font-family:"arial",sans-serif;color:#595959;">The Access ID will be provided in a sealed letter. Pizza Days are Changinghttp://ern.scdsb.on.ca/about-us/news/school-news/79Pizza Days are Changing<p>​Beginning in January 2018 School Council will be offering both Cheese and Pepperoni pizza for sale each Pizza Day.  Forms will be sent home next week and School Cash Online will also be available.</p><p>If you are available to assist on a Friday and on our Approved Volunteer List , please contact the school.  The program couldn't run without our amazing Parent Volunteers as well our Grade 8 helpers.  <br></p>
